2022 Wente Vineyards & Papiamento Restaurant Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Jump 18
Oranjestad. — The island’s most popular golf tournament, organized by Arion Wine Company unfolded at Tierra Del Sol Golf Course this past weekend.
On the eve of the tournament, Eric Wente, fourth generation winegrower & chairman Emeritus of the board at Wente Vineyards, welcomed sponsors and players to the tropical garden of the Papiamento Restaurant with bottomless glasses of his very own excellent wines, and thanked them personally for their participation in the charity golf tournament the following day.
Funds collected at the tournament went to a much-needed initiative, CHILDHOOD OBESITY PREVENTION PROGRAM, a Multidisciplinary Management of Childhood Obesity, affiliated with HOH, Horacio Oduber Hospital.
JUMP18, features a team of young Aruban healthcare professionals that under the guidance of a pediatrician, developed a hands-on initiative to empower children and their parents to improve their health and wellbeing. JUMP18 aims to help parents and children live healthier lives by reeducating and challenging their limiting beliefs. Through this process, the access is created for parents and their children re-discover their true worth and gain a better understanding of nutrition and health.
Samantha Schwengle graced the Papiamento Restaurant event with her presence and thanked all sponsors for their participation.
The party was superbly catered by Papiamento Restaurant whose owner, chef and proprietor Eduardo Ellis joined Govert van der Hout, Arion Wine Company, in meeting and greeting guests.
Papiamento restaurant’s food was nicely paired with some of Wente Vineyards finest selections during the cocktail reception and during the golf tournament, that following Saturday afternoon.
Govert van der Hout explained that Arion Wine Company has been organizing the golf tournament for the past 16 years, practically since his company was founded. He has been representing Wente Vineyards since then, carrying all their complete collection, including the newest Murrieta’s Well, now making Sauvignon Blanc and a lovely red blend, wines from a scenic winery dating from the 19th century.
Joining Eric Wente, Govert van der Hout and Eduardo Ellis in welcoming invitees, golf pro James Kiley, who explained the rules of the following day’s tournament
